MET Guided Tours to the villages see: About the Area


Laslea is the administrative village of the Malancrav area.

 

  • Co-operation with Laslea Mayor and Town Hall is strong. The Trust has restored buildings over the lat two years in the village. We have several joint projects planned for the year ahead.
  • Cooperation with Ministry of Culture. The Bucharest Ministry has acted on our photographic reports of abusive building in protected villages. This will help strengthen the resolve of the Town Hall.
  • The MET and the Norwegian Government are collaborating in a joint programme of training courses and practical work with building restoration and maintenance.   The project is called PREM - Preparing a Romanian Village for EU Membership.

    During 2005, the MET 'A' Team restoration builders started working on a  joint INTBAU  - MET information centre, a project involving painstaking  struuctural consolidation and interior and exterior restoration, which will become a landmark for the Trust. Work continues over the winter and into 2006.

    We have also given Laslea 4,200 Euros for the repair of the road to Malancrav.

    We have enabled a cartographer to map the surrounding forest and agricultural land, travelling on a horse lent by Doina Pieper.

    Since the Spring high school students from neighbouring Malancrav and Floresti have a comfortable modern minibus for their Sighisoara commute, donated by HRH the Prince of Wales and the MET.
